ABOUT ETBO

ETBO is an award-winning Tool & Die Maker and metal stamping supplier, specializing in custom-designed solutions for diverse industries in both local and international supply chains. We are committed to delivering high-quality products, ensuring on-time delivery, and providing a top-notch customer experience.

1953

The Beginning

ETBO was founded in Antwerp, Belgium in 1953 by Etienne and Marie-Louise Borm. The company made precision engravings for various diplomatic offices in Belgium. Pride in workmanship, attention to detail, and a commitment to customer satisfaction were the keys to the newly formed companies success. It was through their contacts in the diplomatic world that they were inspired to immigrate to Canada, bringing their old world skills and craftmanship with them.

1957

Immigrating

In 1957 the decision was made to pursue a new life in Canada.  The assets of the ETBO were loaded onto a mixed freight and passenger ship and set sail from the Port of Antwerp to the new life in Canada.  The destination was southern Ontario, where ETBO remains today. The Southern Ontario area of Canada was where many of the immigrants from Belgium and Holland settled, many starting businesses upon their arrival.

1958

Canadian Made

The re-opening of ETBO in Canada in 1958 saw the completion of our first job in Canada for St.Thomas Metal Signs, a local manufacturer of embossed metal advertising signs and metal goods.  The embossing tooling for the Coca-Cola cooler was manufactured close to the current site of ETBO, with machinery brought over from Europe.  From this first project, ETBO was re-established and continued to grow while entering the automotive workspace.

1963

The First Building

The success of ETBO in the late 1950's spawned the need for dedicated manufacturing space.  The first building was built by Etienne and Marie-Louise in 1963 through dedication and hard work.  The foundations for this building were dug by hand, and all construction was done by them and family.  This spirit of entrepreneurship continued with the family building all additions up until the 1980's.

1977

The First Expansion

Etienne and Marie-Louise continued the entrepreneurial spirit through continual expansion. Here we see Etienne and Marie-Louise, equal partners in growth on the roof of the first expansion in the late 1970’s.  Expansion was pursued as it was financially feasible, with sweat equity as the major investor.  ETBO is grateful for the tenacity, resilience and work ethic of our founders.

1994

Leadership

After Etienne and Marie-Louise successfully lead ETBO for 60 years, ETBO has transitioned to the next generation.  Upon completion of an engineering degree in 1994, Etienne Borm Jr. (Bachelor of Engineering) joined the business full time as plant manager, and is now the President and CEO. Later, in 2000, Etienne was joined by his wife Heather (Masters in Business Administration), who is now the CFO. Together they are committed to continued growth and excellence in technology and customer service as together we deliver into the rapidly expanding market of automotive electrification.

Present

Current Day
